Connemara and Galway City Daytrip from Dublin
Depending on traffic conditions, you can drive from Dublin across the width of Ireland to Galway in about two hours. In fact, a few operators in Dublin offer Galway city daytrip tours which also go to the Connemara region and back again. This is an all-day outing packed with things to see and do.
Tours depart first thing in the morning and head across the Irish midlands. The grandiose Ashford Castle is one of the first sites to admire, along with the ruins of an Augustinian monastery. Next up is Lough Corrib, which holds a total of 365 islands and islets.
The Connemara wilderness is next, with its gorgeous mountain scenery. This part of Ireland has clung to its roots, and locals still speak the old Gaelic in the pubs and markets. Finally, it’s on to Galway for a city break and a couple hours of sightseeing before returning to Dublin.
