McDonaghs Restaurant Galway

Galway—with its coastline, river and loughs (lakes)—is famous for angling. But even if you’d rather pass on the opportunity to cast a line in local waters, a trip to McDonagh’s seafood restaurant is a must. In fact, if you only stop by one eatery in Galway, McDonagh’s should probably be your first choice.

The restaurant boasts an authentic maritime atmosphere. The McDonagh family buys direct from local fishermen on a daily basis, and that level of freshness makes a serious difference. With that in mind, you’ll probably need a reservation, especially if you’re stopping by for dinner.

McDonaghs Restaurant Galway is divided into three distinct sections. The Fish & Chips bar cooks to order, and the potatoes are peeled and cut on the premises. Outdoor seating is available during the summer months. The seafood restaurant serves more elaborate fare, including salmon, prawns, oysters and lemon sole—basically, whatever’s fresh at the time. Finally, pay a visit to the on-site fish market if you prefer to self cater.
